52% Zinfandel, 27% Syrah, 7% Petite Sirah, 7% Grenache, 7% Mourvedre
Vineyards: Dusi, Hastings, Kiler Grove, Alta Colina, Terra Bella, and Paso Ono
Fermentation: Fermented in stainless steel and small open top bins. The fruit was 100% sorted and de-stemmed. The must spent 20 days on the skins with frequent punch downs. Aged in neutral French barriques for 18 months.
Tasting Notes: The 2013 'Going For Broke' is bursting with freshness and ripe berry fruit. The Zinfandel provides a soft, round, and juicy base for the blend, and the Syrah is deep, spicy and saturated. The Petite Sirah, Grenache, and Mourvedre provide the perfect blend of aromatics: Dark fruit, leather, and the almighty spice rack. The tannins are well-defined and balanced by high natural acidity.
